Bio
Hi there! My name is Katie Galley, and I’m currently a freshman at the University of Maine!
I was born in Cooperstown NY, but have lived most of my life in a small town called Temple, NH, where I swear there are more animals than people! I love the small town atmosphere, and it was a great place to grow up. I’m the oldest of three, with two little sisters, Bronwyn and Emeline (Yes, I am aware their names are far more interesting than mine. I’ve accepted this!). We’re a pretty close family, and I’m lucky to have grown up in such an environment!
Of all interests and hobbies of mine, music comes at the top of the list. I grew up in a very musical family, and can’t remember a time when I wasn’t involved with a musical group of sorts. My family all plays in a community band in our town, and I’ve been in the music program at school since 5th grade. Currently, I’m in the music program at UMaine, as a proud member of the Black Bear Marching Band. Music is simply something I identify with, and I love it!

Creative Statement
My goal in being a part of the New Media program is to learn as much as I can about all different areas! I’ve never done anything like this before, so everything is far outside of what I’m used to. However, I hope to become a more rounded person by the end, with knowledge in all sorts of areas.
If I were to pick an area of New Media that captures my interest, it would have to be Sound Recording. I’ve never done anything with Sound Recording yet, so I believe it will be interesting to learn a bit about it! I hope that if I enjoy this area, that I can go further in that field, and perhaps one day work in a recording studio!
